ANZAC day in NYC

Well my little Vegemites, ANZAC day is this Sunday, for my American readers, it’s our version of Memorial Day. ( Read a little bit about ANZAC day here )

First off its a public holiday in back in Australia ( we have a lot of public holidays, sigh!), which makes commemorating the day a lot easier. But there are still plenty of events taking place around New York City.  Here are some of my top pics.

  1. The Australian Consulate – The Australian Consulate will be hosting two events. A Dawn Service on Monday the 25th of April and a Commemorative Sunday Service. You will need to sign up if you’re interested in attending.

  2. Bluestone Lane Cafe- If you’re looking for authentic ANZAC biscuits look no further than their Broad St Cafe which will be opening after the Dawn Service. On Monday, they’ll be selling red poppies for the Mates4Mates charity, a not-for- profit which provides support for ex-Australian Defence Force members and their families.  As well as a few other events.
  3. The Australian, Bar Restaurant and Lounge, will be open from 8AM on Monday, and will be playing ANZAC footy on their big screen.

So how will you be commemorating ANZAC day? If you hear about any other events, please comment bellow!
